Tokyo Ghoul is a dark fantasy anime series that takes place in a world where humans coexist with ghouls, a species that can only survive by consuming human flesh. The story follows Kaneki Ken, a college student who, after a close encounter with a ghoul, is transformed into a half-ghoul himself.

As Kaneki navigates his new life, he is forced to confront the moral implications of his new existence while trying to maintain his relationships with his human friends. Along the way, he meets other ghouls who become his allies and enemies as he becomes involved in the dangerous world of ghoul society.

Throughout the series, the conflict between ghouls and the Commission of Counter Ghoul (CCG), a government agency tasked with exterminating ghouls, intensifies. Kaneki becomes involved with a group of powerful ghouls known as the Aogiri Tree, but as the battles escalate, he must confront his own loyalties and allegiances.

In the third season, Kaneki has been captured and tortured by the CCG, causing him to lose his memories and take on a new identity as Haise Sasaki. As Sasaki, he works with a squad of CCG investigators to hunt down dangerous ghouls, but his past begins to resurface, and he must confront his true identity and the secrets that have been hidden from him.
